We will constantly strive to provide the best training, equipment, knowledge, and concepts to our students (at a modest price) in an effort to enhance their security in an uncertain and sometimes dangerous world.

 

Welcome to Defensive Firearms Institute's home on the internet.  Our founders, David Arnold and James Kautz have worked diligently to bring the finest in training to the region.

You will find a number of training categories in our offerings.  One thing that will not change is our commitment to bringing reality-based training to our customers.  We live in the real world, we train in the real world, and we pay attention to the details.

Our courses are all approved by the appropriate governing bodies, and in most cases by other organizations that have an interest in the field. All of our instructors are certified.  All of our coursework has been vetted by the State of Minnesota. 

We will not be teaching to the dollar, but to the goal of providing a quality education in an area that's very serious and has a direct impact on your life and liberty.

Simply stated, Defensive Firearms Institute teaches the people of Minnesota what they need to know to obtain what is commonly called a  "pistol permit", or a "concealed carry permit".  This is a bit of a misnomer, because in Minnesota you need a permit to carry, but it does not have to be concealed carry.  We do teach courses recognized in Florida, where it truly is a concealed carry state.  That's part of the security of working with Defensive Firearms Institute:  We are subject matter experts. Our expertise extends beyond Minneapolis, and reaches as far south as Florida.  If you have a handgun you wish to learn more about, or have thought about what it takes to obtain a concealed carry permit for your pistol, we're the ones to contact.

 

We take this very seriously.  Minneapolis isn't Miami, Florida, but it's not a small town either.  You have choices to make in your selection of trainers for handgun issues.  Your security is too important to take some course that's designed to lighten your wallet and leave your questions unanswered.  Defensive Firearms Institute has experienced trainers in all facets of handgun usage, pistol orientation, concealed carry permit legalities and concealed carry technique.  We are not lawyers, we know to refer you to the appropriate Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Edina, etc., municipalities within the State of Minnesota.  And, we're proud of our achievements.  We hope to see you soon.
